Richard Hawley

  • Box Office & Bars: 6:30pm / Doors: 7:00pm / Show: 7:30pm

Richard Hawley has carved out a distinct and deserved legacy within rock’n’roll. His accolades are wide-ranging and impressive from performing with The Longpigs and as Pulp’s guitarist to collaborations with Arctic Monkeys, Paul Weller, and Elbow.

Alongside this, the Sheffield-based musician has also spent over two decades forging a singular solo career, earning a Mercury Prize nomination in 2005 for the sublime Coles Corner.

His ability to cut across styles, time and, in some instances, place, is down to Hawley’s deep and intuitive understanding of music, his grounding stemming back to his childhood when his father, a musician himself, introduced Richard to country, blues and rock’n’roll.

On his ninth solo album Further, Hawley’s timeless, evocative songwriting shines through, his lilting crooning conveying his astute lyrical romanticism and rich storytelling. An ever propulsive musician, Hawley holds a uniquely captivating magnetism.

He is a young man in love with great songs - growing up listening to The Beatles, Beach Boys and Madness, he started out playing covers - rockers and love songs but now well on the road in writing his own material. There’s a hint of Sam Cooke’s silky voice and fabulous charm, but he has a style all of his own, and a dose charisma that’s won him an instant following.
